Water softeners are devices that remove hardness from a water supply. Soft water is better to use because it doesn't cause scaling. Laundry will be softer, and dishes will be cleaner.
Water softeners are used to either remove, or reduce the amount of unsoluble contamination in a water source. The exact method of removal or reduction depends on the type of contamination and the concentration. Water softeners can remove iron, chlorine, volatile organic compounds, and others.
The process makes everything from bathing to washing clothes and dishes much more efficient. Using soft water as opposed to hard water activates soap and/or detergent making it work more effectively saving both water and time. Laundry is cleaner, dishes and glassware shine and house work can be cut down as soft water doesn’t leave soap scum like hard water.
Soft water is also friendlier with appliances and plumbing as it doesn’t cause the same hard water scale buildup on showerheads, faucets, humidifiers, dishwashers, washing machines, pipes and water heaters. In essence, using soft water will increase the life span of all of these appliances and can also help reduce energy consumption.
